Money

All start-ups will end up with a money problem or a lack of funding at some point, unfortunately, it’s one of the main reasons why most start-ups fail to get off the ground.

My recommendation is to have a good understanding of the cost before starting any development.

A tip, most developers are not great at estimating sorry to say…
It’s not that they are not good at doing so, there will be areas that can’t be estimated.

The best way to look at estimating an MVP is to break it down into sections but of course, there are going to be areas that cannot be estimated until development has started.

So, I like to break down the estimation into confidence & variance.

Let’s say estimation was $100K confidence was 90% the variance would be 10%. In most cases, I add just a little more to the budget to be on the safe side, from 15% to 20%.

It will depend on who I’m working with at the time e.g. have I worked with the team or developer before, do I have confidence…

Happy building the next Unicorn
